Aidan is a highly experienced corporate banker with an in-depth understanding of commercial banking, especially with regards to all aspects of Trade & Commodities Finance (including their “structured” variations and Export Finance). His experience also spans Investment Banking functions that relate to structured lending and to bank offerings that support trade and commodities finance portfolios (FX, Treasury/Cash Management, Payments, Commodities hedging and derivatives, Correspondent Banking/Financial Institutions).
Since leaving full-time banking in 2015, Aidan has established himself as a consultant to the Trade & Financial Services sector, providing advisory, training and thought-leadership to banks and alternative credit firms on matters impacting Operations and Risk.
His experience has been gained over more than 40 years from the City of London, Zurich, Geneva and Singapore, with UK, Israeli, French, Swiss and Dutch institutions and has covered front-line relationship management, middle office and back office roles.
Aidan has contributed thought-leadership articles and features to various trade magazines and presented at market conferences in the UK, Europe and Asia. He was an adviser to the Commodity Marketing, Risk Management and Finance Secretariat of UNCTAD and contributed a chapter to the WTO’s inaugural book on Trade Financing Mechanisms; a Guide for Developing Countries and Economies in Transition.
Aidan achieved a Securities Institute Certificate in Corporate Finance (2004) and an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School (2002).
In recent years, Aidan’s expertise has been applied to undertaking a forensic review of a bank’s failed trade loans to provide a report to the Executive Board and a Lessons Learnt Guide to practitioners; he has additionally been engaged as expert witness on a number of ongoing cases relating to defaulted commodities financings.
